Alison Litchfield and Jeanie Manchester
image

Alison Litchfield and Jeanie Manchester have been devoted friends for over ten years. Their friendship blossomed while on a trip to Italy where they explored cooking together. Unbeknownst to the other they discovered Richard Freeman's studio in 1990. Their lives continue to weave into one another's a magical way. They bring the creativity and passion of a cherished friendship to their teaching.

Alison has been studying yoga with Richard Freeman at The Yoga Workshop since she moved to Boulder, CO 1990. An avid telemark skier and climber at the time, yoga helped her to find balance and a deeper connection to her body. Alison's 13 years of experience include travels to India to study with Shri K. Pattabhi jois and a sadhaka training with Ayurvedic teacher Bri Maya Tawari. As she continued exploring the healing arts, she discovered the wonderful benefits of Rolfing and its complimentary nature to yoga. She was certified by The Rolf Institute in 1998 and is currently a Rolfer and a teacher at The Yoga Workshop. She combines her diverse background and passion for yoga and Rolfing to teach and cultivate core alignment, body awareness, and flowing movement. Alison sees the body as a temple for the spirit. She believes that through the art of asana, meditation and pranayama we can find balance and clarity for our whole beings. Outside of her practice, Alison loves the outdoors and finds her strength and inner power through connecting to nature. She continues to be a student of yoga in all aspects of her life.

Jeanie began her formal study of yoga in 1991 at The Yoga Workshop. For the past 12 years Richard Freeman has been her primary and most influential teacher. She met John Friend in 1993 and continues to study with him several times a year. She is an affiliated Anusara teacher. She also studies annually with senior Iyengar teacher Gabriella Giubliaro. Jeanie has a modern dance background, which forms the strong basis for her knowledge of the body. She also has an Associates Degree in the Culinary Arts, which deepened her knowledge of things that" tempt the palate and cause one to savor the nectar." Jeanie is a mother of two and practiced yoga through both pregnancies and can offer women the wisdom she gained through these experiences. When not involved in the advanced studies of motherhood she can be found teaching and practicing at the Yoga Workshop. She and her husband Tim and their children enjoy Backcountry skiing, hiking, biking and camping in the Colorado Rockies.
